DIPEL ES is a biological insecticide widely used in agriculture to control various caterpillar (larvae) pests. It is highly favored for being effective yet safe for humans, beneficial insects, and the environment.
Key Features & Composition
- Active Ingredient: Contains Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (Btk).
- Mode of Action: It is a stomach poison. Once the larvae ingest the treated plant parts, the bacterial protein toxins (cry proteins) destroy their gut lining, causing them to stop feeding and die.
- Formulation: “ES” stands for Emulsifiable Suspension, an oil-based formula designed to stick better to foliage even with low-volume spraying.
Usage and Benefits
- Target Pests: Effective against over 75 species of Lepidoptera larvae, including bagworms, bunch moths, and various caterpillar types.
